A teen in Bacliff, Texas, died today of injuries he sustained in a car wreck days ago. 18-year-old Cole Williams Adams, a Dallas native, lost control of his vehicle last Friday. He crashed straight into a driver of Dodge pick-up, who was injured and rushed to the hospital. His name and his condition have not been released by the authorities. The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate this two-car collision. They suspect that the rainstorm that night contributed to the accident, and that speed may have been a big factor in Adams’ death. PG&E Ordered to Inspect Gas Lines—While More San Bruno Fatalities Expected

September 13, 2010- more remains discovered by search teams at the scene of the San Bruno gas pipeline explosion.

Saturday search teams found the remains of three more people raising the death toll from four to seven. There were still at least five people missing Saturday in the San Bruno suburb, according to San Bruno Police Chief Neil Telford.

According to Chief Telford, there were approximately 60 people injured and homes destroyed in the vicinity of the Crestmoor Canyon neighborhood located near Skyline Boulevard and San Bruno. State and federal officials stated the section of pipeline that exploded Thursday in the San Francisco suburb was rated as a high risk gas line, because it ran through the highly populated neighborhood.

One of the victims that was killed in Thursday’s explosion was employed on the commission reviewing Pacific Gas & Electric investment plans to upgrade gas lines including a high risk section on the same pipeline according to a coworker.
Jacqueline Greig a longtime Utilities Commission analyst and her 13 year old daughter were killed in the explosion that left a giant crater near their home and destroy dozens of 1960 era homes.

According to co-worker Pearlie Sabino, Grieg worked part of the summer evaluating the explanation plans of PG&E and the investment proposal to replace out of date pipes, as a part of their bid to raise consumer rates. Another of the fatally injured victims was Jessica Morales age 20 was one of the early victims found after the explosion. The identities of the victims that were found Saturday have not been released pending notification of their next of kin.

I just got back from Washington and thought it was time to get blogging. There has been a lot of information coming out about the high profile Lehman Brothers Bankruptcy as well as a lot of news commentary and media related editorials in papers such as the Washington Post, the New York times, the Wall Street Journal and of course a plethera of online stories as well. There seems to be a general consesus that it was the firm’s own fault that it had to file for Bankruptcy and sell off all it’s assets.
For example, a recent Washington Post article said that it was “Excessive risks, not regulators” that brought down the giant. In one letter to the editor on their news website, it read : (Mr. Fuld) led his company into bankruptcy with eyes, and bank accounts, wide open and is now trying to place the blame on (everyone else apparently). I am not a bankruptcy attorney myself, but that seems like a fair assesment of the situation. On the other hand, it was reported on the Wall Street Journal website that “The Democratic chairman of a blue-ribbon panel examining the said United States financial crisis stated
that (various pertinent) officials made a “conscious policy decision” not to prevent Lehman Brothers Holdings’ 2008 collapse and subsequent bankruptcy, which quite possibly accelerated the ongoing crisis”
Those are strong words and they seem to insinuate that the giant was allowed to collapse.
